To become a Certified Management Accountant (CMA), you need:

  • A bachelor’s degree.
  • At least two years of work experience in management accounting or a related field (or one year if you have a master’s degree in accounting).

Once you meet these requirements, you can take the CMA exam. The exam has two parts, and you must pass both within three years.
